John Mason Epling, 91, of Spencer, WV died July 27, 2002, at home.
He was born Jan. 22, 1911, in Looneyville, WV, a son of the late John W.
and Anna Starcher Epling. He was a former truck driver for Roadway and
retired as a dispatcher for Bekins Movers. He was a security guard later in life in
Florida and attended the Epling Chapel Church.
He is survived by one sister, Anna Faith Miller West of Spencer; his caregiver, a
niece, Rose Epling of Reedy, WV.; several step-children; and several nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Leona Smith Epling; his second
wife, Minnie Lemaster Epling; two brothers, Efford and Esten Epling; and
several half-brothers and sisters.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2002, at Taylor-Vandale Funeral
Home, Spencer, the Rev. Leon Strickland and Mr. Epling's nephews, the Rev.
Smith Epling and the Rev. Stanley Epling, officiating. Burial in the Epling Chapel
Cemetery. Visitation for two hours prior to the services at the funeral home.
