Thelma Louise Dillon, age 81 passed away on November 19th, a few days before her 82nd birthday, as a result of complications of diabetes. Thelma was the eldest of four children born to Harry and Anna Williamson, all deceased.
The Dillon's moved from Big Bend in Calhoun County to the Charleston area to be closer to their daughters, Linda (Dillon) Khumnark and Brenda Dillon, when her husband began to decline from Parkinson's disease. Thelma tirelessly cared for Thomas until his death December 26, 2010. She will be placed to rest beside him at the Big Bend Cemetery in Calhoun County, finally finding the peace she has sought.
Special thanks to her close friends Kathryn Walker and Joanne Jones, whose regular calls and cards kept her in touch with home and helped cheer her, to Virginia Ash, and to Hettie (Dillon) Norman, Jennings Dillon and wife Naoma and Shirley (Dillon) Snyder, and to all the nieces and nephews that she loved and watched grow to have families of their own.
Thelma retired in 1993 from the Brooksville Elementary School where she worked as a cook and was instrumental in setting up a breakfast program at her school. She was never more happy than when she was running the kitchen, planning menu's and doing paperwork. She was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed decorating her home and being the hub of holiday dinners.
Thelma was a kind and loving person who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 23, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with Pastor David Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 pm until the time of the services on Friday.
