Jose I. "Ping" Maldonado, 67, of Spencer, West Virginia, formerly of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on November 17, 2012 at Miletree Nursing Home at 11:25 am after a long illness.
He was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico on July 29, 1945. He worked at Roane General Hospital for 19 years until he retired and was Pentecostal by faith. He liked spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Dash, and enjoyed yard work, listening to Christian music and watching it on television. He also liked boxing and other sports of all kinds and was a former Boy Scout of America.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cecelia "Sissy" Marguerite Maldonado; his children, Israel Ray Maldonado of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Luis Anthony Maldonado of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Samuel Maldonado of Philadelphia, Michelle Maldonado and Melisa Maldonado, both of Lorain, Jovita Marguerite Abramovich of Grantsville, West Virginia, Jose (Joey) Israel Maldonado, Jr., Rebekah Louise Carper, and Jacob Ryan Maldonado, all of Spencer; twenty grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Maria Maldonado; a sister, Maria Cirilo; and an infant daughter.
Service will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME in Spencer, with Pastor Jeff Jett officiating Visitation is two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the First Neighborhood Bank of Spencer, P.O. Box 1048, Spencer, WV 25276 to help cover medical and funeral expenses.
