William "Bill" Paul Dotson, 77 of Parkersburg WV passed away November 11, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born December 25, 1934 in Wirt County the son of the Late Omer And Leafie (Corbit) Dotson.
He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and retired from the Carpenters Local 899 Of Parkersburg. He was owner of Dotson's Exxon of ELizabeth WV from 1976-1981. He enjoyed racing Winged Opened Wheeled Super Modified Sprint Cars and drove the Old 881 for Lew Quinn. He was a member of the Burning Springs Masonic Lodge #182.
His passion in life was working with wood. Over the years he donated several of his items to various organizations in the Wirt County area.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years Linda (Reed) Dotson; 1 son, William "Billy" Dotson of Elizabeth; 2 daughters, Tammy (Carl) Brandjes of Parkersburg and Barb Walker of Munday WV; 3 grandchildren, William "Allen" Dotson wife Ashley of Washington WV, William Brick IV wife April of Parkersburg and Ryan Mathew Dotson wife Elizabeth of Elizabeth; 2 stepdaughters, Carmen James and husband Jeff of Zanesville Ohio and Rita Ernst husband Dave of Louisville KY; 4 step granddaughters, Devan Shaley, Kayli Sowards of Zanesville Ohio, Natalie and Sarah Ernst of Louisville; 1 step grandson, Brandon Soward of Zanesville; and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and his first Wife Bertha Green Dotson in January 1989; 1 sister, Corda Faye Booth; and 1 son-in-law, Danny Walker.
Services will be Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV with the Rev. Danny McVey officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 2-8 p.m.
Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth WV
