FORMER STATE CANDIDATE HIRAM LEWIS INDICTED IN CLAY

(11/09/2012)
A criminal arraignment is scheduled for later this month for former statewide political candidate Hiram Lewis following a grand jury indictment this week in Clay County.

Lewis was indicted on charges of malicious wounding, domestic assault and wanton endangerment involving a firearm.

Lewis, a McDowell County native who ran unsuccessfully for state Attorney General and U.S. Senate, claimed self-defense after shooting Stephen Bogart.

Lewis claimed he was living in the house at Procious.

Bogart says it was his house and Lewis was just staying there.

Lewis is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 14 in Clay County Circuit Court
