E. Irene Harris, 91, of Harmony, West Virginia died November 5, 2012 at the Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston, West Virginia.
Irene was born August 31, 1921 in Jackson County, West Virginia a daughter of the late Johnny Hoyt and Beulah Pearl Cobb Carpenter. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Hope Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting and crocheting.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Nancy Fields of Elkview, West Virginia; four sisters, Maxine Lilly of Hardeeville, South Carolina, Erline Tolley of Elizabeth, West Virginia, and Octavia "Toots" Cox and Mary Lou Hargus, both of Harmony; one brother, Gerald Carpenter, also of Harmony; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Harris; a sister, Pauline Bee; and four brothers, Johnny, Jetty, George and Ferris Carpenter.
There will be a graveside service at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the family cemetery on Price's Ridge in Harmony with Rev. George Stricklen officiating.
TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, West Virginia is in charge of arrangements. There will be no service or visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mt. Hope Church.
