| John W. Shafer, 78, of Spencer, West Virginia, died at 4:28 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2012, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness.
He was born October 21, 1934, in Harper District, Roane County, a son of the late John Wesley and Rebecca Moore Shafer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twin children; brother, Kenneth Shafer; and sister, Maxine Abner.
Mr. Shafer was a retired welder.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Wright of Spencer; sons, Eric Shafer of Cleveland, OH and Dale Shafer of Parma, OH; sister, Janet Miller of Reedy; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
There will be no service or visitation.
John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
