Ruth Almeda (Bennington) Yoak, 90 - Ripley

Ruth Almeda (Bennington) Yoak, 90, of Ripley, (formerly of Spencer) passed on October 26, 2012, with her family by her side. She was born January 2, 1922, at Arnoldsburg, W.Va. to Fred and Mary (Wilson) Bennington.

Ruth spent her early years in Calhoun County, graduating from Calhoun County High School in 1939. She married Victor Yoak on April 20, 1946, in Barberton, Ohio.

Having spent 30 years in Roane County, she was involved in activities at the Spencer Temple, the Trail Blazer's 4-H Club and the Home Demonstration Club. She worked as the Society Editor for Spencer Newspapers for several years, and was an active member of the Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Victor; a daughter and a son; Sandra Lea (Rev. Peter S.) Mathewson of Granville, Ohio and David Victor (Connie Coen) Yoak of Newburgh, Ind., grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by two infant children, Carolyn and Mark; a brother, Wilson Bennington; three sisters, Emogene Bennington, Oreta (Orlie) Anderson and Oleta "Sally" (Owen) Bourne.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church, 330 Third Avenue in Ripley, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2012, with Rev. Peter S. Mathewson, Rev. Jeff Keffer and Rev. Mike Elder officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 29th, at the Waybright Funeral Home, 511 South Church Street in Ripley and at the church one hour before the service. Burial will be at the Albert's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in SandRidge, W.Va. at 3 p.m.
