Dancers in Ballet Class at Heartwood in the Hills
Dancers from the Charleston based "Academy of Arts at January's" were guests at Heartwood in the Hills on Saturday, Oct. 6, for a day-long workshop conducted by Heartwood Artistic Director Jude Binder. Dancers participating in the day ranged in age from middle and high school to adult faculty members, including Heartwood faculty member Mercy Roberts.
The workshop included classes in Movement for Health and Centering and Ballet. Also included was a class in the study of anatomy Students watched several films of choreography and ballet and were given a tour of the Heartwood facilities and artwork, including Masks made at Heartwood and worn in Heartwood productions.
The "Academy of the Arts at January's" is a school of dance founded by January Johnson Wolfe in 1986. She has an outstanding reputation for instilling and sharing the love of dance to all ages.
