Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced Wednesday that Fayette, Kanawha, Nicholas and Raleigh counties will receive Individual Assistance as part of the federal disaster declaration granted in July.
While a number of other counties have been evaluated for individual assistance, FEMA says the damage did not cross a threshold for the assistance.
"These federal funds will provide much needed help to West Virginians in the hardest hit areas of our state," Gov. Tomblin said.
42 percent of the destroyed homes were located in Fayette, Kanawha, Nicholas and Raleigh counties. Ff these homes, 60 percent had major damage.
