Una Jarvis, 91, of Clarksburg, died July 15 at United Hospital Center,
Clarksburg, WV.
Miss Jarvis was born November 11, 1910, a daughter of the late Claudius
and Osceola Duffield Jarvis of Grantsville, WV. She was one of 11
children.
Miss Jarvis was a graduate of WVU with a Bachelor's degree and Master's
degree in Home Economics. She served her country as a WAVE during World
War II. She taught Home Economics at Washington Irving High School until
her retirement in 1973.
She had many interests in the Clarksburg community, was an accomplished
bridge player and an active member of the Senior Center. She was a member
of the Stealey UM Church and was a long-time volunteer at the VA
Hospital.
Surviving, sisters, Lois Jarvis Davis of Grand Rapids Michigan and Ola Jarvis
Stalfort of Grantsville.
She was recently preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Jarvis Haught of
Clarksburg.
She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews including,
Josephine Haught Nerhood and Melissa Haught Stanley both of North
Carolina; Joseph L. Jarvis of Washington DC, Richard L. Jarvis of Grantsville,
William L. Fouse of California, Claude A. Fouse of North Carolina, Robert F.
Riggs of Virginia, Wendell Alan Davis of Texas, Barbara Davis Hailes of
Alabama, John Jarvis Stalfort of Maryland and Robin Stalfort Canapp of
Maryland. Also surviving are many great and great-great nieces and
nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Stealey United Methodist Church
today (July 17) at 11 a.m. with burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Grantsville
at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Clarksburg
Senior Citizens Center, the VA Hospital of Clarksburg and Knotts Memorial
UM Church of Grantsville.
Stump Funeral Home of Grantsville is in charge of arrangements.
