Kermit Lee Godbey, 58, of Clendenin, West Virginia, died at 7:20 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2012, at his home.
He was born July 31, 1954, at Clio, a son of the late James Blaine and Thelma Jean Meadows Godbey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Godbey.
Kermit was a roofer by trade. He was a member of the Hurricane Baptist Church, the NRA and the North American Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Mullins Godbey of Clendenin; sons, Kermit Blaine Godbey of St. Albans and Brian Lee Godbey of Roane County; four granddaughters, Alisha, Madison, Samantha and Skylee; two brothers, Roy Godbey and James Godbey both of Clendenin; three sisters, Roselee Myers and Nellie Brisendine both of Clendenin and Glenda Smith of Buckhannon.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15 in the Hurricane Baptist Church, Clio, with the Rev. Joe Cantley officiating. Burial will be in the Mullins-Godbey Cemetery, Clendenin. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer and at the church one hour before the funeral.
