Charles W. Paxton, 76, of Gandeeville, West Virginia, died at 1:38 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after a short illness.
He was born September 21, 1935, at Kettle, Roane County, a son of the late Amos D. and Nettia J. Dobbins Paxton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Kermit, Otmer, Glennis "Jim", Elbert, Lyle, Delbert and Kenneth Paxton; two sisters, Hazel Marks and Georgia Hardman.
Mr. Paxton was a retired employee of the Johns Manville Co., Vienna and an Army veteran. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Virginia A. Riley Paxton of Gandeeville; two step children, John Riley of Spencer and Sharon Paxton of Statesville, NC; two grandchildren, Kenneth Paxton, II and Crystal Lowe both of Walton; six great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian "Nina" Moore of Walton.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 8 with Paul Paxton officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the West Virginia Honor Guard.
