David L. Whited, 75, of Parkersburg, West Virginia formerly of Walton, West Virginia died July 23, 2012 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.
He was born May 22, 1937 in Walton a son of the late Lon and Reba Mullins Whited. He retired from DuPont after 31 years and volunteered for many local organizations including the police and fire departments, Jaycees, the Fraternal Order of Police, and taught classes for the American Red Cross.
He attended the Broadway Baptist Church and later the Broadway Nazarene Church. He enjoyed his farm in Leatherbark, West Virginia, traveling, his McDonalds coffee buddies and attending the Walton High School alumni breakfasts.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn S. Wagoner Whited; three sons, Lonzo Whited of Clarksburg, West Virginia, Norman L. Whited of Davisville, West Virginia, and David "Scott" Whited of Vienna, West Virginia; four sisters, Nancy Cox, Mary Schrader, Elaine Dawson and Martha Abbott; two brothers, Fred and Jerry Whited; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by five brothers, Bob, Gene, Charles, Don and Bill; and two sisters, Eloise and Barbara.
Service 11:00am Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, West Virginia with Rev. Jerry Board officiating. Burial will be in the Rocky Branch Cemetery, Walton. Visiting hours are from 5:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. |
