Woodrow E. Hall, 88, of Millstone, Calhoun County, WV, died July 7 in Grafton General
Hospital, Grafton, WV following a brief illness.
Born at Arnoldsburg, he was a son of the late, Edwin and Matilda Adams Hall. He was a US
Army Veteran of W.W.II. He served in the Northern Solomon Islands and in the Philippines. He
was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, 2 Bronze Stars, W.W.II Victory Medal and the
Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the medal for Good Conduct.
He was a retired supervisor for the Consolidated natural Gas Corporation, retired in 1976 with
30 years service. He attended Albert's Chapel United Methodist Church at Sand Ridge. He was
a noted patriotic American known for his ability to quote "The Flag Goes By" throughout his life
including up until his passing. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and WVU sports.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Hall Spencer of Fairmont and her husband James Spencer;
sister, Hazel Ayers of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, David Spencer of Leesburg, VA, Gayle
Bailey of Charleston, WV and Jamie Gould of Murrysville; two great grandchildren, Austin and
Ethan Spencer of Leesburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Flo McKee Hall and eleven brothers and
sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg.
Reverend Rick Swearingen will officiate. Interment will be in the Sand Ridge Cemetery. Friends
may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. Military Rites will
be provided by American Legion Post #21 of Spencer.
