The Roane County Animal Shelter has been overwhelmed this week with about 125 cats being dropped off.
"They are all very well taken care of, they're all litter box trained it was just somebody who had their heart in the right place and it just got out of control so they reached out for help," according to shelter worker and Humane Society member Susan Lyons.
The shelter stepped in and rescued the cats, but are more than stretched to take care of them.
Lyons says the community has already started stepping up to help, some donating money or food.
