| Hazel J. "Joy" McCord age 66, of Dusk Camp Rd. (Gilmer County) West Virginia, departed this life on Monday June 25, 2012 at her son's residence after a long battle with cancer.
Born January 21, 1946 in Gilmer County a daughter of the late Hoy and Audrey Rogers Keith.
Hazel was a homemaker and cleaned houses on the side. She loved shopping, swimming, and 4 wheeler riding. She also enjoyed collecting nick nacks and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Setting with my mom, her breathing is so calm. As her chest rises up and down, not too fast, could this breath be the last. I don't see the wings growing, but I know they are coming soon, tonight early morning or afternoon. God has blessed us with her, she has held us all, when he takes her to heaven, then her wings will be so tall. I'm glad to have my mother, for me there is no other. If its All Mighty Gods will to keep me helping her till the end. Then I'll be right here with her until I see her wings soar in the wind. She will be in heaven someday, looking down on me as I pray. Singing glory to God with grandmas, grandpas, uncles, aunts, dads, moms, brothers, sisters, and child, the singing will be so loud. Sweet music will fill the valley with a tone that might make me cry. But it will be tears of Joy, that my mom will suffer no more flowing from my eyes. Wrote by me, my mommas son. I love you, Chet.
On June 15, 1973 she was united in marriage to James Ernest McCord who preceded her in death on January 26, 2011.
Surviving are 3 sons, Chet Massey and wife Kimberly of Dusk Camp Rd., Samual Massey and wife Dorothy of Lumberport WV, and Kenneth McCord of Braxton County WV; daughter, Rosana Massey of Dusk Camp Rd.; 4 sisters, Virginia Self and husband Dennis of Dusk Camp Rd., Lulabelle Godfrey and husband Steve of Dusk Camp Rd., Loretea Hayhurst and husband Richard of Weston WV, and Nickie Leiding and husband Dave of Nebraska; 1 brother, Hoy Keith Jr. and wife Linda of Lost Creek WV; 6 grandchildren, Shayla Massey and Keri Ratcliff of Dusk Camp Rd. Justin Massey, Jeremy Massey, Samuel Massey III, and Jennifer Massey of Clarksburg WV; 5 great grandchildren, Hailey Jane Ball, Collin Golden, Jayden Massey, Angel Massey, and Lydia Massey of Clarksburg WV.
Along with her parents and husband Joy was preceded in death by 1 son, Charlie Massey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday June 29, 2012 at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville, West Virginia, with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery on Dusk Camp Rd. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
