Since 1950, the WV State Folk Festival has focused on old-time music, traditional square dancing under the stars, and Appalachian arts and crafts.
This year's festival is scheduled through Sunday and its free.
The festival parade with the antique cars and the Folk Festival Belles is Saturday.
Oral tradition tent, old-time gospel sing, children's activities, quilt show, Appalachian arts and crafts, jam sessions on the streets, music concerts and workshops, plus banjo and fiddle contests are just a few of the festival activities.
Visit the Country Store Museum at the heart of the festival.
