Gladys Katherine Pearl (Kemp) Davis, 96, of Brohard, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at her daughter's home in Parkersburg, WV.
Gladys was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1915, in Craft Hollow, Ritchie County, to the late James N. and Iva L. (Craft) Kemp.
She attended Harrisville High School and finished the final six weeks of her senior year at Elizabeth High School where she graduated in 1933.
She was a long-time member of Bell Chapel Church at Munday, WV.
On July 24, 1937, Gladys married the late Arland L. Davis. They were the parents of two daughters.
Surviving is her daughter, Patricia "Patty" Roush with whom she resided in Parkersburg, WV; granddaughter, Catherine L. Maas and husband Rob; great-grandson, David N. Adams and wife Sabrina, all of Parkersburg; great-granddaughter, Ashley D. Adams of Huntington, WV; step-great-grandson, Dennis Maas of Holland. Gladys is also survived by her brother's four sons and their wives: Tom and Wannetta Kemp of Elzabeth, WV; Newt and Martha Kemp of Ravenswood, WV; Howard and Barbara Kemp of Burning Springs, WV; Lyle and Ann Kemp of Elizabeth, WV; Brother-in-law, John Waggoner of Pineville, WV and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arland; her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra L. and Elmo D. Gault; her son-in-law, Eugene C. Roush; and her brother, Harold R. Kemp.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 2, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at the Bell Chapel Church in Munday WV with the Rev. Randy Kochersperger officiating. Visitation will be at the Davis family residence at Brohard from 2:00 p.m. Thursday May 31, 2012 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 2nd and from 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the services at Bell Chapel Church. Stump Funeral Home of Grantsville is in charge.
