| The Wirt County Board of Education met in their regular session on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the Wirt County High School cafeteria. Present were James Rader, President, Carl Brainard, Vice President, Chuck Mills, Mark Lowe, and Edward Powell, members, Daniel Metz, Superintendent, and Karen Cummings, Treasurer.
Mr. Rader called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. On a motion by Mr. Lowe, seconded by Mr. Mills, the minutes of the previous meeting held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 were approved.
On a motion by Mr. Brainard, seconded by Mr. Powell, the Board authorized payment of invoices totaling $246,869.41, supplements totaling $3,865.00 and transfers totaling $7,444.74.
On a motion by Mr. Lowe, seconded by Mr. Mills, the Board authorized the following positions:
1. Kindergarten Aide for the remainder of the 2012-2013 school year
2. Mentor Teacher for 2nd grade
On a motion by Mr. Powell, seconded by Mr. Brainard, the Board approved a leave of absence for Rebecca Chesser.
On a motion by Mr. Powell, seconded by Mr. Lowe, the Board approved out of country transfers for Kiara Minor, Patience Jenkins, and Brant Freeland.
On a motion by Mr. Mills, seconded by Mr. Brainard, the Board approved Chaperone/Volunteers, Shawn Healy, WCPC, WCMS, WCHS, Gail Siers, WCMS, Larry Siers, WCMS, Mike Snider, WCMS, Stephanie Burns, WCMS, Tammy Moore, WCMS, Jasmine Anderson, WCPC, WCMS, Lisa Banfield, WCMS, Mark Cochrane, WCMS, Karen Cooper, WCMS, Mike Cooper, WCMS, Martin Logan, WCPC, WCMS, Cynthia Logan, WCPC, WCMS, Sandra Winnell, WCPC, WCMS, Buddy Winnell, WCPC, WCMS, Lonnie Lucky, WCPC, WCMS, Jason Nichols, WCPC, WCMS, Vicki Richards, WCMS, Robert Richards, WCMS, Dwaine Peterman, WCMS, Amanda McCray, WCMS, Amber Holbert, WCMS, Serena Bower, WCMS, Kent Greenleaf, WCMS, Tony Galloway, WCMS, B. On a motion by Mr. Lowe, seconded by Mr. Mills, the Board approved the following WVU-P students for field placement at the WCPC: Ashley Arther, Ryan Litton, Michelle Jones, Kaitlyn Thorn, Hannah Watkins, and Brooke Bumgarner.
On a motion by Mr. Powell, seconded by Mr. Brainard, the Board entered into an executive session at 6:25 p.m. to discuss property purchase. The meeting returned to regular session at 6:35 p.m. on a motion by Mr. Lowe, seconded by Mr. Mills. On a motion by Mr. Brainard, seconded by Mr. Powell, the Board approved property purchase from John Michael Villers at the price of $51,000 with $8,000 of the purchase price to go into escrow.
The next meeting of the Wirt County Board of Education will be held on February 26, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Wirt County Primary Center. After hearing board member concerns, the meeting adjourned on a motion by Mr. Mills, seconded by Mr. Lowe.
