Want to plant a Garden, but don't have the space?
Grantsville Community Garden has space for you to plant a garden. If you desire to plant a garden this year contact the WVU Calhoun County Extension Office, at 304-354-6332, for an application and guidelines. There is a $5 plot rental fee that helps cover cost in maintaining the community garden.
Applicants that agree to abide by the guidelines established by the community garden planning committee will receive at least a 12' x 12' plot, possibly more depending on the amount of applicants. Each plot owner is responsible for caring for their own plot. Volunteers will help keep up the weed eating around the perimeter of the fence and pathways.
The Grantsville Community Garden is possible through the donation of land from Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church. West Virginia University Extension Service, Calhoun County Family Resource Network and the City of Grantsville, have all collaborated to help keep this community garden open, so that citizens of Grantsville, and Calhoun County can reduce their household food expenses and live a healthier lifestyle by consuming more fresh vegetables.
