Carl Tidwell, age 78 of Decatur, Georgia went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 19, 2012 after a long illness.
He was born on July 26, 1933 in Jasper, Alabama to the late Vera (Veedie) Luker Tidwell and Mace Tidwell.
He was married to Molly June Dove in 1956 whom survives and by his two daughters and one son and their spouses as follows, Sheree Dove Ullum (Thomas C. Ullum), Sarita Carlene Samad (Ali O. Samad) and Carl Tidwell, Jr. Also surviving, one sister, Aileen Ford; two grandchildren, Cicily R. Ullum and Samara D. Samad; three great grandchildren, Kyla Raber, Janissa Hayes and Jackson Ullum. He was loved by many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorene Wilson and Verla Kennedy and one brother, Milton Tidwell.
He attended Louisiana State College and has a B.S.degree in history. He served in the U. S. Air Force for 21 years and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean War. After retirement from the Air Force he started the successful automobile dealership of Tidwell Car Co. which has been in business for 30 years to date.
He was also an accomplished golfer who loved the game and was an active member of East Lake Country Club, The Metropolitan Country Club as well as the Highland Golf Club. He loved his family and his family dearly loved him and he will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held at the Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper Alabama on May 25, 2012 at 12:00 noon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00-noon on May 25, 2012. Graveside services will be held at the New Hope Cemetery in Jasper, Alabama following services at the funeral home. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the New Hope cemetery fund.
