Ervin was captured by Preston County Sheriff's deputies after a brief search near Independence, said Sheriff Dallas Wolfe. He now faces first-degree murder charges.

Police said the shooting was likely linked to a domestic dispute.

Wolfe said no other individuals were suspected in connection to the shooting.
