TROOPER SHOT, SUSPECT REPORTEDLY KILLED - William Dumire. 55, was shot and reportedly killed during an extensive manhunt after he shot a trooper who was serving him a warrant, although the agency did not confirm the story.
There was a conflicting story that says Dumire was taken into custody.
State Police say William Dumire, 55, shot a trooper while he was serving a search warrant next to Elkins High School around 4:00 p.m. Thursday.
The school went on lock-down.
The trooper was rushed to Davis Memorial Hospital and later flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Reports say he made it out of surgery and is in stable condition.
Sources say the trooper's name is A.S. Loudin.
Police say after the shooting Dumire reportedly car-jacked a person in the area. He later got out of the car and took off running.
Multiple police agencies went looking for the man.
