Rheita Joyce Minney, 67, of Glenville/Gassaway, died April 29, 2012 with her family by her side.
She was born Nov. 1, 1944 in Glenville, a daughter of the late Teddy Earl and Alma Pearl Sprouse Greenlief. Joyce attended Gilmer County High School and Glenville State College. She was a teacher for 28 years in Braxton County Schools. During her teaching career, she was very supportive and active in all Braxton County youth athletics and programs, frequently sponsoring and chaperoning student activities; a cheerleader coach, sponsor for Student Council, sponsor of the National Junior Honor Society and a member of BCEA, WVEA and NEA.
In retirement, she and her husband Dan were members of PALS. She was an active member of Glenville Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo with friends, had an extensive bowling family, loved games of any sort and was devoted to all types of family gatherings. Her zest for life and her love of family created many memories for both family and friends, and she will be sadly missed. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings and their spouses, Mary Sue and Walter Roe, Betty Wright and the late Willard "Hep" Wright, Phyllis and Leon Starkey, Pat and Ken Clutter, Larry and Mary Greenlief, and Nancy and Tom Minney.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Daniel Minney of Gassaway; her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Pat Minney of Comfort, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren, whom she cherished. She was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Boggs; and her brothers, Bill, Jack, and Fred Greenlief.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Allen Donaldson officiating. Burial will be in the Stalnaker Cemetery, Glenville. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
