ROANE SCHOOL HAS ATTENDANCE AND DROP-OUT PROBLEMS - Calhoun System May Be Placed On Probation

(06/21/2002)
Roane County High School will likely be given probationary status after failing to measure up to attendance and drop-out standards set by the State Department of Education.

Superintendent Steve Goffreda said the worst case scenario was for the state to take over the system, but he said it was likely an improvement plan would be put in place.

Calhoun is facing being placed on probation because of failing SAT-9 scores at the Arnoldsburg Elementary School. SAT-9 scores at Calhoun High School, particularly in the 9th and 10th grade, have fallen the last four or five years, becoming dangerously close to creating a problem for the Calhoun system.
