West Virginia is dead last in the annual Gallup-Healthways survey of their annual 2011 Well-Being Index.
The poll asked selected Americans such questions if they are satisfied with their life and work, if they are stressed and if they laughed a lot the day before.
The poll, sometimes called a "happiness index," asked 42 subjective questions about well-being.
It surveyed 2,442 West Virginians, with a margin of error of at least 2 points.
West Virginia ranked lowest among states in physical health and life evaluation.
