Calhoun residents are well aware of the increasing coyote population, and their avoidant behavior to cling to remote, wooded areas.
Now comes a story from Morgantown about coyotes in or near the metro area.
U.S. Department of Agriculture employees have killed eight coyotes in a hilltop Morgantown shopping center complex and they aren't sure how many remain nearby.
The Town of Granville hired the USDA under a $2,600 contract last year to kill as many as 10 coyotes believed to be living behind the Wal-Mart at University Town Centre.
They were suspected of taking small animals and trash from the complex area.
The coyotes were shot at night and away from shoppers.
