Gerald Lee Ball, 75 - Davisville

Gerald Lee Ball, 75, of Davisville, W.Va., passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at his residence surrounded by members of his family.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1936, in Grantsville, W.Va., to the late Paris and Goldie (Kerby) Ball.

Gerald was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Vienna. Two things that were extremely important to Gerald were integrity and honesty. Gerald loved to read his Bible and teach others about God's word as a layman speaker.

Gerald retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant with 32 years of service and retired from the W.Va. Department of Highways with 22 years of service. Gerald was a member of the SH Kwan Tae-Kwon-Do Academy and earned his second-degree black belt.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Loretta Marie Ball; three sons, Michael Ball (Cynthia) of Marysville, Wash., Andrew Ball (Deborah) of Firestone, Colo., and Gerald D. Ball (Lisa) of Vienna; two stepsons, Robert Lee Lockhart (Jonda) of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Steve Lockhart of Davisville; eight grandchildren, Lisa M. and Cheryl Ball, both of Washington, Mia and Alex Ball, both of West Virginia, and Christian, Rochelle, Reagan, and Shailynn Ball, all of Colorado; and five step grandchildren, Hannah Gray (Ball) of West Virginia, Leah and Anna Lockhart, both of Kentucky, and Kaitlynn and Sophie Lockhart, both of West Virginia.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Mitchel Ball, and two step-grandsons, Andrew and Adam Lockhart.

Funeral services will be Friday 11 a.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with the Dr. John T.R. Powell and Rev. Lloyd Mayes officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg with military honors by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. on Friday.
