Linda Prine Jarvis, a sixth
grade English teacher at Calhoun Middle School, has been selected Calhoun Teacher
of the Year. She has been teaching for twenty-six years.
She received her undergraduate degree in elementary education, art and social
studies from Glenville State College, and later returned for specialization in English
5-8.
Ms. Jarvis obtained a Master's Degree in Middle Level Education from Marshall
University Graduate School.
She is secretary for the West Virginia English Language Arts Council, a Writing
Project teacher, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the West Virginia
Reading Association.
She is among a group of teachers hired by the State Department of Education to write
a manual of Writing Modules that will be utilized by teachers throughout the state.
She has presented at state conferences reading, writing and spelling, and WVRA
Saturday Seminars. This summer she will be presenting for the Center of Professional
Development, Governor's Summer Institute.
A resident of Grantsville, she is married to Roger Jarvis.
