Daniel G. Peffer, 76, of Deland, Florida, died December 23, 2011, from complications of a stroke on December 2, 2011.
Dan was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1935, and lived in DeLand since 1957. He served in the Marine Corp from 1954-1957. He was a graduate of Stetson University and earned both a BA and MA there.
Dan was a Volusia County teacher for 35 years and retired in 1997. He taught at George Marks Elementary, DeLand Middle, Holly Hill Middle, DeLand High, Mainland High, and Home/Hospital Program. Dan enjoyed sports, reading, computer games, travel, and being with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mary Lou Weaver Peffer, she the daughter of Orvan Weaver, son of Wilson T. Weaver of Calhoun.
Dan came to the October presentation by the Historical Society at Calhoun Park, saying "This was a great presentation, and should be given over several different weekends."
Also surviving, daughter Suzanne Dill (Brett); granddaughters Lindsay and Christine Judson; and great granddaughter Cheyanne Vance.
A memorial service for Dan will be held at the Chapel of the Lankford Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
