Jessie Starcher, 96 of Chloe, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior December 9, 2011.
She was born at Chloe the daughter of the late Ezra and Vernie Sharp Metheney.
She was a charter member of Unity Gospel Tabernacle at Chloe, where she taught the children's class for many years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed talking care of her family.
Surviving are three sons, Charles (Glenna) Starcher of Reedy WV, Carl (Kristal) Starcher of Cortland OH, and Bunker (Connie) Starcher of Chloe; six daughters, Azell (Don) Balser of Creston OH, Janet (Dale) Cunningham of Big Springs WV, Sandy (Sammy) Douglas of Clendenin WV, Linda (Louie) Cottrell of Nebo WV, Brenda (Elijah) Burnside of Duck WV, and Charlotte (Rocky) Cadle of Chloe; 21 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Jessie was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Starcher; four brothers, Frank Metheney, Olaf "Tom" Metheney, Arly Metheney and Woodrow "Red" Metheney; one sister, Emma Barnes; 3 infant sons; and 3 grandchildren, Mike Starcher, James Cunningham, and Jackie Cottrell.
Viewing will be Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg WV. Funeral services will be held 12-noon Wednesday Dec. 14th at Unity Gospel Tabernacle at Chloe with Rev. Geoff Hamrick officiating. Interment will be at Coen Cemetery at Nebo WV.
