Patricia Higgins Roberts, 80, Elizabeth, West Virginia, passed away December 6, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Parkersburg on December 17, 1930. She was a 1948 graduate of Parkersburg High School, where she was a member of the Acapella Choir. She attended West Virginia Wesleyan College, majoring in secretarial science. She married James H. Roberts, proprietor of Roberts Store in Elizabeth, on September 21, 1952.
She was a very well-respected resident of Elizabeth, where she was a longtime member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church and a community supporter of many Wirt County organizations and programs. She was a member of the G.F.W.C. of Elizabeth, serving as president and trustee several times and earning a 50-year member gold pin. She also held several GFWC positions at the district level.
Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, earning the Order of the Peral 50-year recognition. She also was a member of the Parkersburg High School Alumni Association and an auxiliary member of the West Virginia Association of Retired School Personnel.
Survivors include three daughters, Sara Dorothy Roberts of Marietta OH; Charlotte Roberts Perham of Fairfax VA; and Christine Lee Roberts of Kitty Hawk NC. Other survivors are son-in-law, Carl Perham of Fairfax; and granddaughter, Patricia Grace Perham of Fairfax.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Willard and Grace Macklin Higgins, and her Husband of 53 years James Roberts.
Services will be Saturday Dec. 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elizabeth United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Williams and Rev. Ray Whitman officiating. Interment will be at the K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 9 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
