An Orma man has been arrested by the State Police on multiple charges related to domestic battery, domestic assault, brandishing a deadly weapon and for having what appears to be stolen guns.
Todd Ray Ferrell, 23, of Paradise Lane, Orma was arrested by TFC J. E. Kincaid Saturday and taken to Central Regional Jail, after which he posted bond.
Three state policemen and Sheriff Allen Parsons responded to what was described as a domestic dispute with a firearm involving Ferrell's wife Amy, according to the criminal complaint.
Police said, according to the complaint, that Amy Ferrell said the couple had been involved in a physical altercation and that he "hit her, slapped her and shoved her down repeatedly."
The report says Ferrell grabbed a gun, put it to her head and asked her, "Is this what you want? Will you leave now."
They identified the gun as a 22 caliber Rugar handgun, which they seized, stating it had a loaded round.
Police, in the criminal complaint, says Amy Ferrell stated
her husband put her head in the toilet and flushed it, and that the couples two children, ages three and four were in the residence at the time.
Officers also obtained a statement from a neighbor that said Ferrell
"approached him carrying a gun and threatened to shoot him in the face for driving too fast."
The complaint says Ferrell admitted to police he had a firearm while having an argument with his wife, and also having an argument with a neighbor.
Police said during the investigation they inquired if Ferrell had other firearms in the residence, after which he opened a gun safe which had three sawed-off shotguns, several rifles, shotguns and pistols.
Police said an NCIC check on the guns showed
a 12-gage shotgun and a 14-10 shotgun had been reported stolen from Gilmer County in October with a value of $1000.
