MONDAY 6 PM - Rescuers discovered Millstone resident 86-year-old John Elliott (left) in the woods behind his house Monday evening after family members reported him missing.
Elliott left the house to deer hunt on an ATV about 1 p.m. and did not return home by dark. A report for help to 911 was at 5:08 p.m.
The State Police, DNR, Calhoun Sheriffs Department, Arnoldsburg and Upper West Fork VFD's were called to the scene. Rescuers managed to make voice contact with Elliott in the woods, with Elliott saying he was o.k., apparently having killed a deer.

A search helicopter summoned by the State Police was canceled.
Elliott is well-known to the community for his music playing and community activities.
