The Beauchamp-Newman Museum in Elizabeth will be open on Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Newman room fireplace mantel has been decorated with fresh pine laced with holly berries donated by Ethel Casto. A handmade fiddle and bow donated by Faustine Bauman is the eye-catching focal point of this beautiful arrangement.
The museum was decorated early for this festive occasion by Dawn and Elizabeth Adams, Angie Cox's Hi-Y students, Richard Lowe, and DAP members, Mary Cleghon and Sherry Smith as a surprise for Regent, Carole Menefee.
Items that have been placed on display this year include a 1907 calendar, eye glasses, scissors holder, song books and pictures of the Hite Sheppard/Somerville family donated by Ruth E. Durden. Mail boxes from the old Elizabeth post office were received from Edwina Ott's estate.
Joe and Alice Cunningham donated a Purple Heart belonging to Clarence Lee who was killed in action in WWII.
Leo Mason pictures and the Mason family bible were presented by Roy Lee and Sandra Mace. Waneta Thorn Lawrence added the Thorn and Somerville family bibles to the collection of items she has presented to the museum over the years.
Pioneer Daughters will be serving punch, hot apple cider and cookies until 4:00 p.m. After enjoying your tour, sit down, relax and chat or share the spirit of the holiday season by Christmas caroling with DAP members at homes around Elizabeth.
This is an opportunity to view an impressive collection of Wirt County's history. The museum is located behind the Court House in Elizabeth.
