| Calhoun has had three reported brush fires during the past week, the first on Meadow Run off State Rt. 16 at Minnora.
The Upper West Fork VFD responded to that fire and quickly brought it under control.
The UWVFD was dispatched to the Coen Cemetery area at 6 p.m. Sunday near the Clay County line, on scene for about three hours with the Big Otter Fire Department.
Monday, the Grantsville VFD responded to a brush fire on Rush Run off Rt. 7, Russett Road, with foresty officals also responding.
These are the first fires reported this fall.
Forest fires have real potential with a crop of leaves on the ground and wind whipping across the region, although rain is predicted for Tuesday. |
