| In a marathon evening of play for Calhoun County, Lady Red Devils volleyball advanced to regional play by defeating Doddridge County 3-1 Thursday evening at Doddridge County High School in an elimination match.
Calhoun then defeated Gilmer County 3-2 in a five set match that saw the deciding fifth set go 27-25 in favor of the Lady Red Devils.
As that was Gilmer's first loss in the Sectional Tournament, the Sectional Championship went to a second match with Gilmer defeating Calhoun 3-0 when play concluded shortly before midnight.
Calhoun is now one win away from their second straight appearance in the WV State High School Volleyball Tournament.
Calhoun will play East Hardy Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Doddridge County High School.
The winner of that match will advance to the state tournament on November 11 and will also play for the Regional Championship at 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
