 Wood chopping will return to the 40th
annual Calhoun County Wood Festival this year with Arden Cogar
demonstrating five events, including the "hot saw," two-man crosscut, "Jack
'n Jill," underhand chop and likely an ax throw.
The wood chopping event will start at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wayne Underwood
Field, and will include cash prizes.
Cogar, not unlike other members of this family, is an international wood
cutting champion. He has been competing since 1956 and has won 47
championship titles in the United States and Australia.
