Glenville, WV - The Glenville State College Veteran's Day Program is scheduled for November 11th at 11:00 a.m. on the GSC Clark Hall lawn.
This celebration is part of a national commemoration of the tenth anniversary of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), the war in Afghanistan, which in a larger part is a reflection of the ten-year anniversary of September 11, 2001. The event is sponsored by the Veterans Knowledge Community of NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
"The ceremony at Glenville State College will consist of a military roll call of West Virginia veterans who died in OEF. We invite everyone to submit names of other OEF casualties that they would like remembered, regardless of their home state," said GSC Veterans Affairs Coordinator Jennifer Wenner.
The ceremony will be followed by a ravioli lunch in the GSC Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom. Serving ravioli is a longtime tradition that started when President Woodrow Wilson would invite returning soldiers to the White House for a ravioli dinner. This represented the home-cooked meal that the soldiers longed for while serving their country.
Lunch is free for veterans and their families, $5 for all others. Please RSVP by 4:00 p.m. on November 8th. To submit names for roll call or RSVP for lunch, contact Wenner at Jennifer.Wenner@glenville.edu or (304)462-6056.
