SWISHER YOUTH INJURED IN FOUR-WHEELER CRASH - Undergoing Surgery In Charleston Area Medical Center

(06/03/2002)
An eleven-year-old Nobe youth was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a four-wheeler accident on Laurel Creek, off White Pine Road.

Anthony Swisher was life-flighted to Charleston Area Medical Center from the Pleasant Hill Elementary School landing zone after the 2 p.m. accident.

He was in guarded condition, undergoing emergency surgery for head trauma Sunday night.

Swisher was riding on a four-wheeler driven by eleven-year-old Zack Wease, also eleven. Family members said he received minor injuries. The four-wheeler reportedly struck a tree, throwing the Swisher youth into a nearby creek. Authorities said young Wease "kept his cool" and lifted Swisher's head from 24" of water, otherwise he would have drowned.

The Wease youth "screamed for help" and a visitor in the area called 911. Calhoun EMS and the Grantsville VFD responded. Sheriff Allen Parsons is investigating.

The Swisher youth is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Swisher of Nobe.
