First meeting to be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday at 155 River St. in Grantsville.
Over the years there have been many attempts in Calhoun, and surrounding counties, to provide shelter and care for mistreated and unwanted animals, yet unfortunately, this remains a very real problem for our communities.
It is for this reason that yet another attempt is being made to create a helping hand for four-legged citizens in our area. Calhoun Animal Rescue is taking a fresh approach in hopes of beating the odds and making a real change for the better.
The organization will soon possess 501c3 Non-Profit Charity status, which will allow tax exempt purchases, and will have designated tax deductible status from the IRS for donors. Instead of attempting to operate out of a central location, this animal rescue group will consist of a confederation of foster homes throughout the area, which will allow us to be flexible, creative, and most importantly, a no-kill operation.
We will not be looking to city, or county governments, or their police forces for support or funding, there are plans in place for independent income generation for the organization, and we will remain independent of outside authority so that we can effectively operate and expand.
Participation is welcome from any and all regardless of geographic location, and you don't even have to work with animals to be of assistance, there is much to be done.
