Evelyn S. Campbell, 80, of Grantsville, West Virginia, died May 30, 2002 at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
Born in Gilmer County, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Lucille Floyd Self. She was a graduate of
Sand Fork High School and attended Glenville State College. She was retired from the Calhoun Insurance Agency in
Grantsville with 28 years service. She was a founder of the Calhoun General Hospital Auxiliary, was a member of the
Grantsville Civic Club, VFW Auxiliary, Rebecca Lodge Grantsville Chapter, Calhoun County Historical Society, First Baptist
Church of Grantsville, and the Francis Melton Mission Circle. She had served on the Calhoun County Emergency Medical
Services Board, was a former Grantsville City Recorder and city council member.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph Campbell of Parkersburg, West Virginia and David Campbell of Carrolton, Ohio; daughter,
Deborah Fritz of Nashville, Tennessee; brother, Matthew Self of Zephyr Hills, Florida; four grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Campbell who she married in 1941 at the onset of WW II
and a half brother, Byrne Self.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 2 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Grantsville. Reverends Erik Nielsen,
Charles E. Rogers, Jr. and Joseph N. Busch will officiate. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Grantsville. Friends
may call at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the service at the church
Sunday.
