| Ellis Clinton Smith, 79, of Millstone, West Virginia, passed away September 17, 2011 at his home.
He was born in Rockbridge County Virginia, a son of the late Elisha and Elizabeth Jane Moore Smith. He was a former employee of the Lee Carpet Company in Glasgow, Virginia and was a cattle rancher. He attended the Sycamore Baptist Church at Millstone.
Surviving are his children, Bonnie Foster of Rockbridge VA, Elizabeth Jane Sorrels of Morristown TN, Daniel Clinton Smith of Glasgow, and Cheryl Marie Hall of Millstone; a sister, Genevieve Burch of Amherst VA; six grandchildren, Ray Thompson, Jason Thompson, Paul Thompson, Preston Cash, Jonathan Sorrels, Dillon Scott Smith; and his best friend Danny the Beagle.
Graveside rites will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19 at the Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery at Millstone. Rev. Gene Satterfield will officiate.
