Dianne Weaver, associate editor of the Hur Herald has been released from Charleston Area Medical Center, after suffering a heart attack early last Tuesday morning.
Thanks to advanced medical treatment and the cardiac treatment team at Charleston, she is recovering after having a blockage and a stint implanted.
We're grateful to Minnie Hamilton Health System for quickly following the heart attack protocols before transferring her.
She appreciates the hundreds of prayers, emails, calls, and cards, inquiring about her condition and expressing concern.
Needless to say, it was a trying and taxing week for us, trying to accept that such a work hardy woman could be ill.
Certainly we better appreciate such problems that have descended on our friends and neighbors over the years, and further appreciate the wonderfulness of life and the simple blessings for which we should be grateful for everyday.
One thing we learned is about how people react to having a heart attack.
It seems that most folks go into denial about the symptoms of a heart attack, symptoms that most everyone knows.
Dianne exercised that denial at 3 a.m., although she experienced the classic systems of heart attack. Treating heart attacks quickly is essential.
CAMC physicians and caregivers said it is more common than not to use irrational thinking and go into denial, even smart people who work in healthcare.
Again, we express our appreciation to all as Dianne has already returned to her post, working on the Herald, something she has done for 13 years.
