STATE SCHOOL BOARD ADOPTING CLEARER BEHAVIOR POLICY FOR WV STUDENTS

(09/12/2011)
West Virginia students are expected to respect their classmates and teachers so that everyone has a chance to learn, conduct themselves responsibly on the Internet, refrain from drug use and violence and generally behave well in school, according to the WV Board of Education.

The State Board is now taking five different behavioral policies and placing them into one, says State Superintendent of Schools Jorea Marple. Marple said last week that she believes when you clearly articulate to students and staff members what's expected of them, they're more likely to follow through.

State Board of Education members placed the new behavior policy for public comment for 60 days.
