HEARTWOOD'S FALL PROGRAM BEGINS SEPT 12 - Enrollment Still Open For Classes

Enrollment is still open for the 12-week program of classes being offered at Heartwood in the Hills' on Monday, Sept. 12 Classes are available for ages 5 through seniors and include Creative Arts for Children. This class will be of interest to not only 5 and 6 year olds but to 8, 9 and 10 year-olds as well.

The class is on Tuesday afternoons, beginning Sept. 13, from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. Children may ride the school bus to Heartwood and will be met by a Heartwood employee, they will enjoy a light snack and then the class. Parents are responsible for transportation home from Heartwood.

There are also classes in movement, theatre dance, ballet and maskmaking for teens, adults and seniors. In addition, Heartwood's Dance Company is open for boys and girls aged 9 and up. For those interested in enrolling a child or teen with the Dance Company, please note there are no auditions to join but students must desire to learn to dance and must commit to attend all classes and rehearsals for the 19th Annual December Celebration.

Heartwood's Mask class is for those aged 14 and older. Children younger than 14 who want to make a mask must be accompanied at each class with an adult helper. The mask a student makes during this 12-week class is theirs to take home.

All students who participate in the Fall Program will have the opportunity to be part of the 19th Annual and Last December Celebration. Traditionally, the December Celebration is a showcase of student, alumni and faculty work as well as a much anticipated and well-attended community evening of theatre, dance and storytelling. Alumni from the past 18 December Celebrations are encouraged to get in touch with Heartwood to participate in this very special gala performance.

The 19th Annual and Last December Celebration will be held on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9 and 10. The Friday evening performance will be an open dress rehearsal.

There is a $10 enrollment fee per student for the program. Class fees are very affordable and can be paid by the class or by the program. Heartwood is located on Lovada Road just off Route 16 north of Grantsville. It is a non-profit school for the arts offering morning, after-school and evening classes since 1982.
