The Creston area had some rain but, of course, nothing like was associated with the hurricanes.

Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church and served Holy Communion.

Lots of folks have been in over the weekend visiting family and friends, four wheeling, checking fish populations and checking out where to go bushy tail hunting come September 10.

The Annamoriah Cowpoke came in from North Carolina for the Basnett family reunion. He was reminiscing about the "old days".

Mr. & Mrs. Dave Welch who are now Florida residents were visiting Mr. & Mrs. W. H. Schenerlein III and family & other area relatives & friends.

Kyler Propst was attending to business in Creston over the weekend. It has been reported that he cuts a "wide swath" down on Sycamore.

Jimmy Henthorne who lives in Zanesville Ohio was visiting relatives and friends in Creston. He has been working on family history. His grandparents, Ira & Ella Campbell Baker formerly lived on the West Fork at the mouth of Pete's Run, a stream named after Revolutionary War patriot Peter McCune.

Someone is loading out a bunch of fine logs at the mouth of Annamoriah Creek and Chuck Exline is still working on the T. R. Boggs place. On Sunday they were working on the dozer which had been brought out to the road along with the skidder.

Charles Russell & Mr. & Mrs. Dean Miller were attending to business in Spencer. Charles was also calling on Euell who recently under went cataract surgery. Euell reports better vision now.

And then there is the story about the Soup Man's paver and how it was 'rescued' from the scrap yard and how much it 'became worth'. No doubt the temporary governor and his Logan County friends can "take care" of any irregularities.

Mother Hope had Hastings station (where all the goodies are removed from area natural gas) down for routine maintenance but the shutin was short lived this time. Those who have never b een there should take trip up to Wetzel County and drive down Route 20 and take a look. Back when, the W. Va. PSC allowed the cost of operation to make for "better gas for W. Va. customers" or "making wet gas dry" which lowered the BTU or heat value and gave the Rockefellers all the 'by products'.

Work continues on the Annamoriah bridge with more concrete and more fill being placed. Also they changed out the "off road truck".

A large group of dragon flies was seen along the Richardsonville road which may mean that they are now on their migration to the sunny south for the winter.

The local fellers were doing service work on a well on Laurel in Sunny Cal on Friday and a local grouse took up residence and served as their mascot all day long.

A class action suit has been brought against East Resources which operated all that was left of the old South Penn Oil Company properties. As part of the settlement, all the old flat rate gas wells will now pay a 1/8th royalty. East sold out to Royal Dutch Shell which turned the W. Va. properties over to HG Resources.

The furor continues over the bogus degree that the university up at Morgantown gave to the daughter of former governor and now U. S. Senator & Big Eared One's errand boy. The folks who were made to be the fall guys to protect the Goodwins, Alex Macia and the impeccable Manchin family are and have been suing the august body and the taxpayers have been defending the suit to protect the guilty and now the school, which lost it party school #1 rating, wants all records sealed so folks won't know who did what. That is important since elections are coming up and "reputations must be preserved".

After lots of media hoopla which would indicate that the emergency order was actually the field rules, the new emergency Marcellus field rules are now in force for a period of just over one year. The main change is concerning the use and accounting for water, both that used to fracture the formation and that which is produced and must be either recycled and reused or properly disposed.

The average price for local Pennsylvania grade crude was $81.4435/bbl. On Friday the price fell $2.48/bbl to $81.75. The price of gasoline went to $3.50 in Parkersburg but is 20 cents higher elsewhere in the state.

Japanese stilt grass which is a noxious invasive species that crowds out native plants is now blooming so landowners should quickly cut it down or pull it up to keep from having 'zillions' of tiny seeds to spread the pest, kill out flowers, lawns, meadows, pastures, woods, etc.
