The Calhoun Middle-High School cross country team opened its 2011 season
Saturday morning by competing in the Autumn Classic at St. Marys.
The Red Devils had three boys compete in the male high school division
with freshman William Baker leading the way with a time of 23:27. Baker
was a member of the middle school cross country team last year. Second for
Calhoun was freshman Tyler Gerwig with a time of 25:24. He was followed by
freshman Glenn Michael Fulks with a time of 35:16.
Calhoun has a team of five males this year although it is very young with
sophomore Mason Sheldon being the oldest member. He and his younger
brother, freshman Luke, were unable to make the meet Saturday.
On the girls side freshman Diana Hall was the only Red Devil runner and
she had a time of 32:48.
In the middle school division sixth grader Benjamin Fredrick had a time of
18:03 for the boys while sixth grader Natalie Allen had a time of 16:41
for the girls.
The Red Devils return to action Sept. 6 when they hold the Calhoun
Invitational at Calhoun County Park starting at 4:30 p.m.
