There will be a benefit auction Saturday, June 1, starting at 6:30 P. M. at the Creston Community Building. This will be the last auction before the fall so cheese & pepperoni lovers should come and stock up. There will be the usual goodies, 50/50, grab bags and yummies to eat. Come visit, have fun and look for bargains. Proceeds go to maintain the community building. The bathroom has recently been painted and a new handicap commode has been installed. With summer costs of mowing and repairs the Building treasury is very low.
Jacques Frost was a business caller in the Creston area the past several evenings. Away from the river and the West Fork he left some very plain marks. Albert Gore, Jr. and the "global warming" crew may have some "splainin' to do".

The USDA's multiflora rose is now in full bloom as a reminder of that old phrase, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you." Other government regulations continue to drive manufacturing jobs to the Orient, Mexico and other such places.
Sarah Morgan, who was sometimes referred to as a blonde in disguise and Scott Limer are honeymooning in Cancun, a plush resort town down south of the border. One fellow said it should be made clear for some in one county that this means down south of the Rio Grande. Scott's bachelor party was held on his farm in Gilmer County and while word on that is scarce one fellow noted two girls down at the strip bar said that they had a good time.
Two Guns is still trying to find out who "embellished" his turkey hunting story and Becky was accused but those who know "Sweet Becky" know she was not guilty.

Shy Katz' four little kittens moved to Parkersburg. Last seen they were being spoon-fed canned cat food. Talk about being spoiled. Little Annie's four little long haired kittens are available for adoption at the Engelke residence. Two look like Dalmatians and the other two are calico (tortoise shell).

Super secret tests continue on the joint venture well drilled by Columbia and Michigan based Nitro over in Roane County. The well has 6900 lb pressure and gauged 1.5 million and has not been fracted. Columbia did not want the well drilled on down the Beekmantown. The Beekmantown was the zone that Exxon produced in their deep well drilled back in the 70s in Jackson County.

R. K. Lynch was having tractor troubles the other day.
Economic development has been a mantra for the local area since the old economy was destroyed years ago primarily by government actions. Presently both Wirt and Calhoun Counties have empty factories and low average incomes. The slick workings of a con man and the lack of preventive action in nearby Clay County should be an object lesson in what not to do.
Travelers out and about might conclude that half of Hindoostan has moved to the United States and gone in to the motel/hotel and service station business.
